W-well... There is an experiment going on, so that's to be expected! I think I got affected earlier this week, too... at least it isn't anything too big though, right...? [Just... a cat tail and instincts!]

[He sighs, scratching at one ear as his discomfort changes into mild agitation.]

Yeah. It could be worse. ...Technically, this has happened to me before, but I wasn't aware I was different.

Oh, really...? Do you mean you didn't know it was there, or that you thought it had always been there? [..regarding the tail, anyway. If it's the behavior though, same thing!]

I thought it was always there. [He glances at his tail, having to consciously focus to get it to flick in such a way that he can grab it. ...It's a strange feeling.]

That's not the only thing. You see, it's... It's not obvious, but I'm actually a different race right now -- the ancestral race from which I'm descended. [He was just fortunately conscious enough of his change to suppress random urges to meow.]

Ohh... A different race though...? What kind is that?

[...Admittedly, now that she thinks of it, she hadn't even exactly thought about the fact that Leon's a totally different race, despite the cat ears. Whoops.]

There's actually not a "human" race on my home planet. There's the Expelians, who look the most like humans, and the Fellpool, like me. [He decides to skip the whole bit about being Fellpool through atavism, since that wasn't the focus at the moment.] The Fellpool descended from a more cat-like race that could transform from the half-cat to cat form.

Transform from half-cat to cat form..? [...that sounds so cool. Kinda odd, but cool...!] Ohh.. I see! So then you're a descendent of those...? [..oh!]

And what about Claude then? Is he an um.. Expelian too? [He's from the same world, so..!]

Oh, no. Claude's human; he visited-- ["visited," he thought wryly to himself] --Expel, but he's from Earth. [He smiles at Nagisa's interest all the same, though.]

Last time I was like ... this, I was able to transform. I'm, uh. It's a little bit less instinctual this time around.

Ohh... I see.. [Now she's... just imagining Claude as an astronaut, really... In one of those big space suits. Yep.]

But um.. That's good at least then, isn't it? That it's less so right now..

...Well. [His ears twitch a little bit as he readies himself for something of a confession.] I'd like to transform, while I have the opportunity.

It's-- Actually, it's really neat. Having a totally different perspective. Without someone else completely controlling it.

I'm just not sure how it happens. [Part of it was willful thought, but he hasn't yet been relaxed enough to let the cat "take over."]

Ohh.. I guess I could imagine it being that way. But... When you're able to, how do you do it? Do you just think that you want to turn into a cat and then you do...?

[Is it simple like that? Or more complicated?]

I don't think so. I've been thinking about it quite a bit today, so... There's something else I'm missing.

The cat-kid wants to turn even more into a cat. Sounds pretty boring to me. [Oh, the self-deprecation. He mutters another apology anyway.]

[Shhh, Leon. Shhhh. Nagisa shakes her head.]

I don't think it's that boring at all though, so...

[Nagisa, you are such a sweetheart. Leon smiles a little at her encouragement, bowing his head briefly before grinning at her.] Thanks Nagisa. I guess I forget it's still pretty strange for people who don't deal with aliens and magic on a regular basis.

[Yay! Good good. Nagisa returns the smile with her own.] It is a little strange in a way, since I'm not used to it at all. But I think it's really interesting to hear about those kinds of things since my world doesn't have them. If anything, they're just in stories and films and games, so...

I've never really talked to you about your world, have I? I know you've had friends from school show up, and you're from one of many Japans represented here... [He laughs and his own joke and trails off.]

Mm... No, I don't think so. Or at least not much, anyway... Is there anything you may want to know about it, then?

Well... What would you do on a normal day? What do your parents do for a living?

Mm.. Well, I'd be at school most of the time, but aside from that, usually I'd help my parents out in the bakery they own.

Do you also bake, then? I know Fuuko made that starfish cake... [He doesn't recall trying something that Nagisa had specifically said she'd baked.]

[An enthusiastic nod.] Mm, yes! I do! I enjoy doing it a lot, too. If you want, I could even bake you something sometime.
